New Delhi:  One positive case of COVID-19 has been detected in New Delhi, and one has been detected in Telangana. Both the patients are stable and being closely monitored, a Health Ministry statement said.

The person from Delhi has a travel history from Italy, while the one from Telangana has a travel history from Dubai.

Incidentally, coronavirus cases have soared 40% in Italy, according to The Associated Press.

On Sunday, Italian authorities announced in Milan that the number of people infected with the new coronavirus rose 40% to 1,576 in just 24 hours, adding that five more infected people had died.

That brings the number of deaths in Italy to 34 since cases of the virus exploded in the country on February 21, AP reported.

Italian health authorities say the increase is expected, since it takes as long as two weeks for containment measures to take effect, and because Italy has a large number of elderly people.

There have so far been three confirmed cases of the virus, all in Kerala. All three, who were students in Wuhan, have recovered.

As part of the efforts to management of coronavirus (COVID19), passengers are being screened at airports across India.

Meanwhile, the Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament in Malaysia was pushed from April to September in the wake of COVID-19 which is spreading across the world.

The tournament, which was scheduled to be held in Ipoh, Malaysia from April 11 to 18, will now be held from September 24 to October 3, the organisers said in a statement. India, a regular at the event, was not supposed to participate this year.
