It has been three years since PM Narendra Modi made an announcement declaring 86% of the currency in circulation invalid on November 8, 2016. Demonetisation impacted the economy in such a way that at least 50 lakh people were rendered unemployed and the country's growth rate witnessed a 3% dip.
