Himachal to Vote on November 12, Gujarat Poll Dates not Announced

The votes will be counted on December 8, 2022.

Rajiv Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner, addressed a press conference at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi to announce the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh.

The term of the Himachal House ends on January 8, 2023. The BJP has 45 MLAs in the House, while Congress has 20 in the 68-seat legislature.

As per the EC announcement, the date of polling in Himachal Pradesh is November 12, 2022. The votes will be counted on December 8, 2022. The last date for filing nominations in the single-phase election is October 25, 2022.

The EC also mentioned that there are over 55 lakh eligible voters in Himachal, including 1.86 lakh first-time voters and 1.22 lakh 80-plus voters.

While it was expected that the Election Commission would also announce the poll dates for Assembly elections in Gujarat, no such announcement was made by Kumar.
