Joginder Singh, BKU (Ugrahan)

The Bharatiya Kisan Union's (BKU) Ugrahan y welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement to repeal the three contentious farm laws.

"It is a good move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Gurupurab," Joginder Singh Ugrahan, the leader of BKU's Ugrahan faction, told PTI.

On the prime minister's appeal to protesting farmers to return to their homes, Ugrahan said, "Farmers' unions will sit together and decide the future course of action."

Hannan Mollah, AIKS

Terming the withdrawal of the three farm laws "historic", AIKS general secretary Hannan Mollah said the farmers' had only achieved half of their objective and will now press for a law to guarantee minimum support price (MSP).

"It is indeed a historic victory for all of us. However, I am a bit cautious and unwilling to trust this government until and unless these three laws are scrapped on the floor of Parliament," he told PTI.

Mollah said "To think that our movement is over is not right as the farmers' movement started on two demands -- withdrawal of the three farms laws and bringing in a new law to guarantee MSP. So our demands have been half met. Now, what will be the form of the movement that will be decided through discussions."

Rakesh Tikait, BKU in UP

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said the ongoing anti-farm laws protest will be withdrawn only after the contentious legislations are repealed in Parliament.

He also stressed that the government should talk to farmers over the issue of minimum support price (MSP) of crops and other matters.

"The protest will not be withdrawn immediately, we will wait for the day when the farm laws are repealed in Parliament. Along with MSP, the government should talk to farmers on other issues too," Tikait tweeted in Hindi.

Jayant Chaudhary, Rashtriya Lok Dal

The victory of farmers is the victory of the country, said the RLD leader.

"Victory of the farmers, is of everyone, it is a victory of the country," he said in a tweet in Hindi.

In a tweet, his party RLD said this "victory is of farmers' struggle, perseverance and sacrifice".

Amra Ram, AIKS

Amra Ram, leader of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), who has led various peasant movements in Rajasthan, said: “It was said that the farmer will not go away after losing, humiliated, the farmer will go back home only after taking his right.. The government had to repeal all the three black laws of agriculture.”
