The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) mobilised over 25,000 farmers across Maharashtra to come together for a march from Nashik to Mumbai, covering a distance of 200 km, by foot. They began the march on 6 March, 2018. The Kisan Long March, as it is being called, demanded loan waivers and an implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report, according to which farmers should be paid one and a half times the cost of production for what they produce. Multiple organisations, political parties, NGOs, and activists, across the country, have extended their support to the farmers’ cause. By the time the marching farmers reached Mumbai on 12 March, 2018, six days after they began in Nashik, their numbers had swelled to 50,000.

A number of artists showed their solidarity to the cause by creating art works exclusively for the Long March. Here is a selection of some of these images, curated by our team.
