Arvind Kejriwal Announces Doorstep Ration Delivery and Final Instalment of Signature Bridge on Twitter

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also took to Twitter to announce the final instalment of the Signature Bridge and construction of academic and hostel blocks of the Delhi Technical University.
Doorstep ration Delivery

The tussle between Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal ended, after the Supreme Court, on Wednesday, gave more power to the elected government in Delhi and the limited role of the L-G. Soon after the court's decision, CM Arvind Kejriwal on Friday morning took to Twitter to announce the much-hyped doorstep ration delivery.

The Delhi Chief Minister, who is very active on Twitter, said in his tweet, "Approved Doorstep Delivery of Rations. Over ruled all objections to the proposal. Directed Food Dept to start its implementation immediately."

In another tweet, Kejriwal also said that Delhi government approves the final instalment of the Signature Bridge. There should now be no more obstacles and that it should be ready by October.

The Signature Bridge project was approved in 1997 after an accident took place on the narrow Wazirabad bridge, wherein a school bus fell into the Yamuna, killing 22 children.

The power tussle between the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor has been on since the formation of the AAP government in the state. Baijal had objected to the Delhi government's ambitious proposal of doorstep delivery of rations and asked the AAP dispensation to consult the Centre before executing it.

Speaking to Newsclick, Kuber, one of the doorstep ration beneficiaries, said, “It is a great news for people like us who have been waiting since long, as the theft of ration, poor quality of supplies and shops remaining closed were the major issues that residents were facing. The implementation of this new scheme would put an end to these harassments."

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia also took to Twitter to announce the two others projects -- the final instalment of the Signature Bridge and construction of academic and hostel blocks of the Delhi Technical University.

“Two major projects cleared - 1. Final instalment for Signature Bridge. Now it would be completed by Oct’18 2. Two new academic blocks and 3 new hostels in Delhi Technical Univ(DTU). This would add approx 3000 more students to DTU,” Sisodia tweeted.
