Atul Pethe on Directing "Satyashodhak"

Sudhanva Deshpande from Jana Natya Manch talks to Atul Pethe, a theatre director and filmmaker from Pune. Atul Pethe recently directed a new production of Prof. G.P. Deshpande's "Satyashodhak", a play about the life and work of the 19th century social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. The play was made with the "Pune Mahanagar Palika Kamgaar Union" and a large majority of the actors in the play are members of the union and are sewage cleaners themselves. Atul Pethe talks about his experiences while working on the play- The challenges, problems and a transformation of sorts that the actors and director experienced in their personal lives while working on the play.
