Bihar: Left Parties' MLAs Protest Against Israeli Attack in Gaza, Massacre of Palestinians
Patna: Left parties' MLAs staged a protest against the Israeli attack on Gaza and the massacre of innocent Palestinians in the Bihar assembly on Monday, marking the first day of the five-day-long winter session of the House. They also expressed their support and solidarity for the Palestinian people.
The MLAs of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation [CPI(ML)], a key ally of the ruling Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, raised the issue of the Israeli attack on Gaza and the massacre of innocent Palestinians on the premises of the state assembly, followed by a protest.
With handwritten colourful posters against Israel in their hands, the CPI(ML), which has 12 MLAs, raised slogans against the aggression of Israeli forces and demanded an end to the war in Gaza. Their posters read, "Palestinians ka narsanhar band karo" and "Gaza par kabza kiye jameen ko mukt karo."
CPI(ML) legislative party leader Mehboob Alam told the media, "Traditionally, we have been supporting the Palestinian people and fully stand for their rights. The BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party )-led central government under PM Narendra Modi has a stance on the Palestinian people that contradicts what the first BJP PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, stated in support of the Palestinian people. Vajpayee had asked Israel to free the land occupied in Palestine."
Another CPI(ML) MLA, Manoj Manzil, expressed, "We advocate for the freedom of Palestine and its people. Israeli forces have been massacring people, including children and women, in Gaza. It is shameful that the BJP-led central government of India supports Israel, which is responsible for the loss of lives in Gaza. This has exposed its true face. Mahatma Gandhi supported and stood with the Palestinian cause. We demand that the government of India support the Palestinian people and stand against Israel."
Similarly, Sandeep Saurav, another CPI(ML) MLA, stated, "Israel has massacred hundreds of children in Gaza in a one-sided aggression."
Two MLAs from another left party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M), also raised the issue of the Israeli attack in Gaza and the massacre of innocent people. "It is truly shocking that the BJP-led central government supports Israel instead of Palestine and its people. History will remember this," said party MLA Satyendra Yadav.
