Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday, in a wider political message, warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to commit more crimes by filing cases against rivals and his government will be uprooted in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Contrary to reports that he was upset two days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a fresh charge sheet against him, his wife and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, younger son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and others in connection with the land-for-jobs scam, Yadav seemed upbeat. While speaking in his mother tongue Bhojpuri here at the RJD state headquarters after a long time, he directly attacked Modi and announced to uproot him in next year's elections.

"Ukhar ke phenk deb,Narendar Modi,Samajh La,Jayadah julm nahi karna, koi thahra nahi, jis per chahte hai, mukadma karo, mukadma karo, jab tu na rahba tab ka hoi" (Modi, you will be uprooted. Just understand, do not commit more crimes by filing cases against rivals. What will happen to you when you are ousted from power?), he said while addressing party leaders and workers at a function to mark 27 years of RJD’s formation.

He recalled that years ago, powerful people in rural areas used to scare poor and marginalised people by threatening to file cases in the High Court and the Supreme Court as the BJP led central government is doing these days.

Yadav said the opposition unity move is on the right track after the opposition meeting held at Patna on June 23. “Opposition parties are united, and we are strong. But Modi is trying to split the party by horse-trading. BJP is busy purchasing MLAs to form the government. It will not happen in Bihar because the ruling Mahagathbandhan is united,” he said. He added that the ruling Mahagathbandhan in Bihar exemplifies opposition unity.

On Tuesday, Yadav said there are reports in the media that an attempt is being made to repeat Maharashtra in Bihar, but that it will not happen.

He further said hatred had been spread among people who have been living in harmony. “People in power are trying to trample our brotherhood, finish the constitution, and end the reservation. Our constitution is in danger. Today when people are coming together to save the constitution, they are being intimidated,” he added.

Yadav appears to be slowly joining active politics again before the next elections. He attended last month’s opposition meeting, and after that, he has been actively commenting on one or another thing in connection with ongoing efforts for opposition unity and targeting the saffron party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
