Congress Lost in Chhattisgarh Because Tribals Ditched it: Alok Shukla

According to Alok Shukla, a Raipur-based social activist associated with Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan, Baghel’s ‘soft Hindutva’ backfired and it would now be difficult for Congress to recover lost ground till the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

The previous Bhupesh Baghel government’s showing in the recent Assembly polls has made it clear that tribals in the northern and southern parts of Chhattisgarh ditched the Congress in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party. According to Alok Shukla, a Raipur-based social activist associated with Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan, an NGO, Baghel’s ‘soft Hindutva’ backfired and it would now be difficult for Congress to recover lost ground till the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
