Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the imposition of the National Security Act (NSA) in the case against six patients in quarantine at the Ghaziabad district hospital’s isolation ward. The medical staff of the hospital had earlier alleged that the six patients, who had earlier attended a religious congregation at the Nizamuddin Markaz, misbehaved with them.

On Friday, referring to them as “enemies of humanity,” Adityanath said that, “we are imposing NSA on them,” according to an Indian Express report.

In Uttar Pradesh, the stringent NSA will also slapped on people who attack policeman enforcing the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the state government informed on Friday.

The move comes in the wake of reports surfacing of several incidents of attack on policeman enforcing the lockdown, one of which was reported in Muzaffnagar, where two policeman including a sub-inspector were reportedly injured.

Meanwhile, The Indore district administration in Madhya Pradesh on Friday also invoked the NSA against four men involved in the alleged attack on health workers in Taatpatti Bakhal area of the city, according to an India Today report.

The police had arrested seven persons for the alleged attack on Thursday and detained six more men in connection with the incident, added the report.

As on Friday morning, the cumulative figure of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country reached 2,301, of which 2,088 were active cases, while 156 were those who have been cured/discharged. The death toll in the country is now at 56.
