NSA Slapped in Both Ghaziabad, Indore Incidents; Cases Surge to 2,301

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the imposition of the National Security Act (NSA) in the case against six patients in quarantine at the Ghaziabad district hospital’s isolation ward. The medical staff of the hospital had earlier alleged that the six patients, who had earlier attended a religious congregation at the Nizamuddin Markaz, misbehaved with them.

On Friday, referring to them as “enemies of humanity,” Adityanath said that, “we are imposing NSA on them,” according to an Indian Express report.

In Uttar Pradesh, the stringent NSA will also slapped on people who attack policeman enforcing the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the state government informed on Friday.

The move comes in the wake of reports surfacing of several incidents of attack on policeman enforcing the lockdown, one of which was reported in Muzaffnagar, where two policeman including a sub-inspector were reportedly injured.

Meanwhile, The Indore district administration in Madhya Pradesh on Friday also invoked the NSA against four men involved in the alleged attack on health workers in Taatpatti Bakhal area of the city, according to an India Today report.

The police had arrested seven persons for the alleged attack on Thursday and detained six more men in connection with the incident, added the report.

As on Friday morning, the cumulative figure of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country reached 2,301, of which 2,088 were active cases, while 156 were those who have been cured/discharged. The death toll in the country is now at 56.

Maharashtra Designates 30 Govt Hospitals Dedicated for COVID-19

Maharashtra State Public Health Department has designated 30 government hospitals as special facilities to treat those affected by Corona.

In a tweet, the Chief Minister Office informed that these hospitals will have 2,305 beds for treating only patients infected by coronavirus.

 

Tablighi Jamaat: British, American, Chinese Among Blacklisted Foreigners

Officials on Friday confirmed the nationalities of 960 blacklisted foreigners, whose visas have been cancelled under the directions by Ministry of Home Affairs “for their involvement in Tablighi Jamaat activities.”

Those who are blacklisted include 379 Indonesians, 110 Bangladeshi, 9 British, 4 American, 6 Chinese, 3 French nationals among others.

 

Uttar Pradesh: NSA to be Slapped Against Persons Who Attack Policeman Enforcing Lockdown

The stringent National Security Act (NSA) will be slapped on people who attack policeman enforcing the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, news agency PTI reported the Uttar Pradesh government as saying on Friday.

The state government's move to invoke the NSA comes in view of reports of several incidents of attack on policemen enforcing the lockdown.

In one such incident in Muzaffar Nagar, a sub-inspector and a constable were seriously injured when a police team trying to enforce the ongoing lockdown was attacked by a group of villagers on Apr 1.

 

Eight Fresh Coronavirus Cases in Haryana

Haryana’s State Health Department on Friday confirmed eight fresh cases of those who have tested positive in the state, taking the state tally to climb to 43, of whom 13 have been discharged so far, according to news agency ANI. Giving details of the fresh cases, the health department informed that 5 are from Gurugram and 3 are from Nuh district.

Delhi: OPD Services at LNJP and GB Pant Hospitals to be Closed from Tomorrow

The OPD services at two New Delhi’s hospital – LNJP and the GB Pant – will be closed from April 4 onwards,  PTI quoting Delhi government authorities reported on Friday.

Both these hospitals are among the five facilities in Delhi designated for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the national capital.

According to PTI, the total number of coronavirus cases in Delhi nearly doubled to 293 on Thursday with 141 fresh cases and two deaths being reported in a day.

 

More Than 30,000 Volunteers to Join Fight Against COVID-19

More than 30,000 doctors, including retired government, armed forces medical services, and private physicians have volunteered to help the government fight against COVID-19 pandemic,  senior government official told PTI on Friday.

The government on March 25 had appealed to retied government, armed forces medical services, public sector undertaking or private doctors to come forward and join the efforts to fight the pandemic caused by the deadly coronavirus.

Delhi Records 91 Fresh COVID-19 Cases in Last 24 Hours; Total Stands at 384

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that there have been 91 fresh coronavirus cases in past 24 hours in the national capital. With this, the total number of cases now stands at 384.

He said that  259 COVID-19 cases have been reported from Nizamuddin Markaz. One more person who was evacuated from Markaz has died due to the virus infection, taking the toll in the national capital to now reach 5.

He said further that two COVID-19 patients are on ventilator support. Situation in Delhi is under control and there is no need to panic, he added.
