Continuing the focus of the Tablighi Jamaat coronavirus hotspot, the Centre asked all states and Union territories to launch a contact tracing exercise on a "war footing" of all participants of the congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin.
According to the National Commission for Minorities, the Tablighi Jamaat congregation caused a "big damage" to the government's efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Bihar, an official claimed that four policemen were injured when a group of people belonging to the Tablighi Jamaat attacked them when the cops admonished them for defying lockdown.

In a major relief to students, the Human Resources Development Ministry has asked the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) to promote all students of classes 1 to 8 to the next class in view of Coronavirus situation.

HRD Ministry asks IITs to form task forces for Placements

The Human Resource Development ministry directed the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to form task forces to ensure placements are not affected due to situation arising out of COVID-19. It ask them to include psychologists in the  task force to address mental health challenges faced by students during lockdown.

HRD Ministery to CBSE, Promote students

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has asked the Central Board of Secondary Education to promote all students of classes 1 to 8 to the next class, in view of Coronavirus situation.

Students of class 9 and 11 are to be promoted on school based assessments conducted so far, the direction said.

Class 9, 11 students who have not been promoted this time can appear in school-based tests online or offline, the HRD Ministry said in a statement.

The CBSE is to conduct board exams only for 29 main subjects that are required for promotion and crucial for university admissions, the direction added.

Whenever the CBSE is in position to hold board exams, it shall conduct for 29 subjects by giving adequate notice, according to the statement.

For the rest of the subjects, the CBSE will not hold board exams; instructions for their marking, assessment to be issued soon, the HRD Ministry said.

The armed forces have made available over 9,000 hospital beds and more than 8,500 doctors and support staff across the country to deal with the rising cases of Coronavirus infection, according to officials.
