The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has finally released figures for crimes in 2017. However, this report does not have figures on number of communal crimes and mob lynchings even as the Bureau had announced that it will include these crimes in the pro forma category. Similarly, figures on gang rapes are questionable. Senior journalist Urmilesh speaks about the possible political intervention in the compilation of the NCRB report.
