East Bengal, Chennai City FC Terminate Player Contracts; What Happens Next? (420 Grams S-2, Ep.33)

I-League clubs, including East Bengal FC and Chennai City FC, have initiated unilateral termination of the contracts of some of their players.

Now that it is clear there will be no football for a while, the fallout has begun. Employees of clubs, players and staff in particular, are starting to face the axe much like workers in any other sector. Even those with long-term employment contracts find themselves out in the cold. Clubs, including East Bengal FC and for former I-League champions Chennai City FC, have initiated unilateral termination of the contracts of some of their players. Siddhartha Bhattacharya of the Football Players Association of India (FPAI) tells us about the calls he has received from worried players so far and explains how the disputes are resolved.
