An Emotional Adieu to Sitaram Yechury
On September 12, the news of sudden demise of general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], Sitaram Yechury, cast a shadow of sadness over not only the left politics of the country but over the larger progressive democratic section of Indian politics and society. As per his wishes, his body is donated for medical research. Before his body was handed over to AIIMS, hundreds and hundreds of people, including Polit Bureau members of the CPI(M), his family, party members, representatives of various workers, farmers, students, women's organisations from all states, friends, colleagues, leaders of various political parties and many more, bid him farewell on September 14 at the party headquarter, AKG Bhawan in New Delhi.
