"Factory Japani, Pratirodh Hindustani": The Endless Struggle of Maruti Suzuki Workers

July 18, 2012, was a historic day for the labour movement in India. It was the day when the struggle of Maruti Suzuki workers in Gurgaon, Haryana, came to the fore due to an unfortunate accident. A large section of the whole world knows that movement only from that unfortunate incident, while this movement was much bigger than that, and many people called it a class struggle. The book Factory Japani Pratirodh Hindustani covers the whole story of this movement and the struggle of Maruti workers. We talked to the authors of this book, Anjali Deshpande and Nandita Haksar, about what the workers lost or gained from this movement.
