Families in Kashmir Request Release of PSA Detainees Outside Kashmir

The families of the detainees have requested the Central Government for temporary release for those who were arrested under the Public Safety Act.

In the wake of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, family members of Kashmiri prisoners who have been lodged in different jails across India since Article 370 was scrapped, express fear and anxiety for the safety of their kin in the jails. The families of the detainees have requested the Central Government for temporary release for those who were arrested under the Public Safety Act. The Public Safety Act (PSA) 1978, of Jammu and Kashmir is an administrative law that allows detention of any individual for up to two years without a trial or charge.
