IT employees and union members in the IT industry spoke to NewsClick regarding the mass layoffs in IT companies in the backdrop of COVID-19 and the consequent lockdown. They said that the corporates are trying to increase their profit margin in the name of the pandemic. This is the motive behind the termination of thousands of employees by Cognizant and many other similar forced resignations. The union members have requested the central government and respective state governments to provide job security to the employees' job instead of favouring the corporates. The union has assured the affected employees to not panic and stand united to resist the injustice by the IT giants.
