Kashmir: Pellet Victims Battle Back-to-Back Lockdowns, Struggle to Save Their Eyes
Shahid Ahmad Mir, a young boy from the village of Karimabad in Pulwama district of J&K sustained pellet injuries to his right eye in May 2020. While his injury was treatable, the lockdown owing to COVID-19 made it impossible for him to travel for treatment. The condition of his eye has deteriorated and he now struggles to read and write. The lockdowns have been a major problem for pellet victims in the Valley.
