The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed three very rigorous lockdowns in the past two years- beginning with the curfew imposed ahead of the abrogation of Article 370 and then the pandemic-induced lockdown last year. With the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, a third lockdown has been imposed in the region. However, the continuous lockdowns have left the queer and trans community members in the region struggling to survive.
