Rahul Gandhi's decision not to lead the Congress is being perceived as him running away from the fight and escaping his responsibilities. His party's future would have been brighter if it had a leader of the stature of Ram Manohar Lohia or Jayaprakash Narayan, but he has to nevertheless play a far more active role in uniting political forces opposed to the Bharatiya Janata Party, says political analyst and professor at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies in an interview with NewsClick.
