Microblogging site X, formerly Twitter, and named so by its current owner Elon Musk, was down globally on Wednesday evening (Thursday Indian time), with all outgoing links coming to a halt.
Users who logged in India were greeted with “Welcome to X – This is the best place to see what’s happening in your world. Find some people and topics to follow now”. It leads one to a ‘Let’s Go’ button that is nothing but a list of suggested names.
According to The Verge, the URL redirected users abroad to a simple error page saying, “This page is down. I scream. You scream. We all scream... for us to fix this page. We’ll stop making jokes and get things up and running soon.”
However, a Reuters report said the outage was global, citing Downdetector.com in both X and XPro.
Over 47,000 U.S. users faced access issues with X and X Pro, according to Downdetector data.
As per reports, this is not the first time that Musk-owned social media platform has faced outage. In July and March this year, too, similar problems had hit X
According to Downdetector, X was down over 13,000 times in the US and the UK. Users shared that they say the message, “Sorry, you are rate limited. Please wait a few moments then try again,” said a report in the Indian Express.
