Danish Husain makes Rahat's poem come alive – with his flair for the language, gripping gaze, and an intimate understanding of the poet's impetus.

This week, we feature Rahat Indori. Rahat left us earlier this month on 11th August, but gave us the words that prosper resistance. With his conversational, irreverent but playful style, Rahat Indori struck a chord with the masses. His iconic "Agar Khilaf hain" became the rallying cry during the anti-CAA-NRC protests recently, especially the last couplet:

सभी का खून है शामिल यहा की मिट्टी मे
किसी के बाप का हिन्दुस्तान थोड़ी है..

This soil is soaked in the blood of all
Hindustan is not a bequest to only some
