Meet Asara Sawhney. The eight-year-old from New Delhi is the US Kids European Champion of 2018 -- only the second Indian to have ever won the title (Shubham Jaglan had won it as a 12-year-old in 2016). Newsclick spent a day with Asara, her caddie, father Akshay, and her mother Richa, on the course at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC), her second home. We tried to understand the scope of kids golf and the future for golf in India through the eyes of a prodigy and a family who is willing to invest everything into the sport. With golf now an Olympic discipline there has been a rise in interest and eyeballs.
