Delhi Metro Hikes Fares Again

Newsclick Team |
Delhi Metro, the mode of travel used by people across classes, is getting unaffordable for the common man. The city saw protests at multiple metro stations opposing the recent fare hike.

On 10th October, Delhi Metro hiked its fares for the second time this year. Ever since metro started its service in 2002, it has become an irreplaceable part of people’s everyday commute. It is an easier medium to travel through the city. People across classes use the metro to reach their destinations. DMRC has decided to raise the fare stating that it is going in loses. The hiked fares are burdening the common people’s budgets. The Delhi government, which co-owns the metro with Centre government, says that it is against this hike, but the Centre government has decided to go ahead with the decision. Is the Modi sarkar not concerned with common people’s plight?
