The Government Continues to Shrink Spaces for the Voices of Dissent

"How will we pay Rs. 50,000 per day at Ramlila maidan to protest"
Newsclick Team
16 Oct 2017

On 5th October 2017, the National Green Tribunal passed a judgement banning all protests and dharnas at Jantar Mantar road citing ‘pollution’ as the reason. Some protest groups have been sitting there for years now, with their grievances remaining unaddressed. This is being seen as a politically motivated move by the government to silence the voices of dissent.
