India's Bullet Train on the Losing Track

Who is this Bullet train meant for? The 94% who travel in 2nd sleeper class or just the 5% of India's elite?

An RTI reveals that over 40% train seats go vacant on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route, and 44% on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai route. The Indian railways is losing over 14 crores per quarter on this specific route alone with the existing passenger traffic.
Strangely, this is the segment that Modi govt has chosen to make Bullet train track at a huge cost of Rs. 1,10,000 crores. An amount that is 5 times more than the railway safety fund itself; on a route that is not even profitable!
