AIFF Technical Committee Recommends Phased Reduction of Foreign Player Quota (420 Grams S2, Ep.35)

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) technical committee has recommended reduction of foreign players in Indian clubs, moving to a 3+1 system (the one being a player from an Asian nation) in keeping with the norms of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The All India Football Federation's (AIFF's) technical committee held discussions on May 8 on various issues pertaining to the technical advancement of the sport in India. One of the central themes was whether or not to reduce the number of foreign players clubs in India are allowed to register in their playing squad. 420 Grams has learnt that the committee has recommended moving to a 3+1 system (the one being a player from an Asian nation) in keeping with the norms of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). These recommendations are likely to be put in operation in a phased manner and no changes are likely till, at least, two seasons from now.
