Forum of IT Professionals Condemns Verizon for Forcing Employees to Resign

Forum of IT Professionals released a statement yesterday condemning Verizon’s treatment of their employees, and demanding government intervention.

PRESS RELEASE

13th Dec, 2017 Hyderabad

Forum of IT Professionals (ForIT) strongly condemns the heinous acts on the part of Verizon management. Verizon has resorted to barbaric ways in retrenching employees – by hiring goons, bouncers and even psychiatrists – and forcing the employees to resign.

This is a new low on the part of corporate managements. The HR department, in cohort with bouncers, are threatening the employees. Faced with the pressure of termination, psychological stress and the physical intimidation of bouncers, the strategy is clear – to break the morale of an employee. Employees phones are being confiscated and checked for audio recordings. There is absolutely no respect towards an employee who has spent years in helping build the company. While the companies continue to make billions of dollars in profits, the employees – who helped make the profits – are being mercilessly thrown to the roads and their families into disarray.

Forum of IT Professionals demands that the government respond immediately on this and take strong actions against the acts of the IT managements. The government should ensure that the employees are taken back into their jobs immediately and stop further retrenchments. ForIT demands that the management higher-ups, who were involved in the coercive tactics be booked under applicable laws and immediate action should be initiated.
