Vineeth Shot Blocked on the Line

23’ Chennaiyin FC, almost have the opener. Brilliant chance created by one pass from Raphael Augusto. And Thapa saunters into space and pulls it back perfectly for Vineeth, but his shot is blocked on the line. Goa living by their luck right now.

Sebia Shot Saved Too

25’ And now, Eli Sebia hammers a shot from an acute angle, 20 yards out. Saved.

Great Work by Nelson

26’ And again. Brilliant work from Gregory Nelson, this time from the right. But Augusto misses the header by that much <that much>

Goal in the Air

27’ Chennaiyin have a freekick on the right. There’s a goal coming.

Fall Clears

27’ Jerry delivers and Fall clears. But just about. Chennaiyin corner.

Nawaz Brilliance

27’ Nawaz with a super save! Dhanapal rises highest and heads it -- albeit gently -- into the bottom far corner. But well saved.

All Chennaiyin But No Goal

Chennaiyin’s 15 minutes of pressure has Goa rattled. But the game is still nil-nil.

Goa Waste Rare Chance

30’ Goa waste a freekick from a very good area. It goes straight to Karanjit. Who has collected the ball and then gone straight to ground. The medics are out.

Chhota Bachchan

31’ Abhishek Bachchan is in the house. And this post will hopefully boost our SEO while Karanjit gets treated.

Karanjit Back On

32’ Game is back on. Karanjit is staying on. All back to normal.

Goa's First Shot on Target

33’ Goa have their first shot on target, and it’s a looping, faint, soft header straight to Karanjit.

Highbury Connection

The lads (Vaibhav and Pandit) talking about Highbury for some strange reason.

Goa Take Possession

36’ Nothing to read here. Go take a walk. Goa have the ball, and are pinging it around.

Jackichand Goes High and Wide

37’ Jackichand shoots high from near the penalty spot. Boumous plays him in, the box, but wide and high.

Lenny Aims for the Sky

39’ Lenny lets loose. With no result. That ball is still falling.

Gama Shoots Wide

41’ Confusion in the Chennaiyin box gifts Saviour Gama a chance to take a shot from an acute angle. Slashed wide.

Goa Not Committed Enough

42’ Arjun Pandit says, the problem with the game is that Goa aren’t committing too many forward to fulfill their attacking potential. It’s all okay to ping about in the middle of the pitch, but in the attacking third they are always outnumbered by Chennaiyin players.

Bedia Shot Saved

43’ Bedia from a distance, and karanjit with a great save. That ball was moving a bit.

Chennaiyin Freekick

45’ Freekick to Chennaiyin 35 yards out. It’s a good spot to have a shot. Possibly the last meaningful play of the half.

Half-time: GOA 0-0 CFC

Arjun Pandit boldly proclaims, Advantage Goa. And he qualifies that with a reasonable thought. For all of Chennaiyin’s pressure and their chances and their shots on goal, the score is still undisturbed. And that’s all that matter.

Goa for their part have to come out a bit braver and look to actually make things happen in the final third of the pitch. They seem to be letting the game drift by in the hope that a moment of magic will change it for them. Not going to happen.

See you in the second half. Its kabab time. Or, erm, papad time (no salt) for those among you following.
