Ahmedabad and Lucknow will be the two new franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI's) auction fetching a whopping Rs. 12,715 crore. Private equity firm CVC Capital Partners (Irelia Company Pte Ltd) won the bid for Ahmedabad at Rs 5,625 crore, while the Sanjiv Goenka-led RPSG Group clinched the Lucknow franchise at a price of Rs 7,090 crore.
